Crispy-Edge Bowl
The one for when you've got two extra minutes and want maximum flavour.
FROZN is fully cooked, but giving it a couple of minutes in a hot pan creates golden, crispy edges that completely transform the texture.
It's a tiny bit of extra effort for a bowl that tastes like you've cooked from scratch.
Ingredients
- 2-3 FROZN chicken patties
- Your favourite grain (rice, quinoa or buckwheat)
- Red Cabbage slaw
- Pickled cucumbers, pickled onions or sauerkraut
- Olive oil
- Any fresh vegetables
Optional
- Avocado
- Feta
- Fresh herbs
Method
-
1Cook or reheat your grain of choice.
-
2Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat.
-
3Cook FROZN for a couple of minutes on each side until the edges are beautifully golden and crispy.
-
4Build your bowl with grains, greens and fresh vegetables.
-
5Add FROZN and finish with plenty of pickles and a drizzle of olive oil.
Why this works
Sometimes two extra minutes make all the difference.
The crispy edges add texture, the pickles bring acidity and crunch, and together they create a bowl that feels balanced, fresh and incredibly satisfying.
It's one of those meals that never gets boring because you can build it differently every single time.
Why you’ll make this again
- Crispy, golden edges with almost no extra effort
- Great for using up leftover vegetables
- Easy to customise
- Perfect for lunch or dinner
- One bowl, very little washing up

If you ask me, buckwheat is one of the most underrated grains out there. I grew up eating it and still think it deserves way more attention. It has a lovely nutty flavour, keeps you full for ages and works perfectly with crispy FROZN and fresh vegetables. If you've never tried it before, this is the bowl I'd start with.
